Chapter #1963 Learns How to Stop the Bleed
By Kevin Irwin - Chapter President
Safety Director John Breda had a goal this year of upgrading our first-aid gear that the sweepers carry on group rides. As he was researching the materials he realized that training was needed. He learned of this training when he met Lori Leonard of Aultman Hospital and Jenna Molinari of Akron General Hospital at an event at Bair’s Indian Motorcycle.
This free training for life saving skills was conducted at our June monthly meeting. The one hour training included vital information about the importance of stopping life threatening bleeding and how it can increase the odds of someone surviving significant trauma.
The group practiced applying torniquets and familiarized themselves with the kits that we have acquired for the chapter. Rick Kendall won a raffle for a Stop the Bleed kit and then graciously donated it to the chapter. We now have two first-aid kits and two Stop the Bleed kits!
Lori provided this handout where you can learn about the kits and how to get this valueable training.
